What is Leptin?

Leptin is one of the body's main hormones.  It is produced by our fat cells and its function is to signal the brain as to how much fat the body is carrying.  It also causes us to feel full, reduces sugar cravings, tells the Thyroid Gland to increase the body's metabolism and tells the liver to 'burn fat'!

If the body has higher Leptin levels, then the person eats less, burns more calories and can burn stored fat very easily.

The 'fatter' the body gets, the more insensitive to the effects of Leptin the person gets, so as a consequence the body doesn't listen or respond to Leptin like it should.

People who are sensitive to Leptin are:

  • Less hungry
  • Feel full quicker
  • Crave fewer sugary foods
  • Have a faster metabolism
  • Have more energy
  • Burn stored fat easily.

In a nutshell, it is very advantageous to have a body that is sensitive to Leptin to help with weight loss!
